Have you ever tried fasting?
I never really thought fasting was such a good idea. I mean after all who would want to deprive themselves of the pleasures of the tastes of a wonderfully prepared meal?
Many special people like Mahatma Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda and even Jesus fasted, and I’m sure there were and are many more ascended masters that I have not mentioned. Whether it was fasting from speaking or fasting from eating they all did it at one time or another though example.
What prompted this sudden need to fast in the first place?
Well, I’m not exactly sure. I had not made any plans for it. Nor had I thought much about it for the new year. I do know that it had something to do with my stomach not really ever feeling well even before the holidays.
I had been on a quest to try and strengthen my digestion, eat less processed foods and listen more to my body to know when it was time quit eating or drinking and not override the signals I was receiving from somewhere in the distance. That was proving futile. I was unable to stop eating even when I was full. My taste buds seemed to be in control over my eating habits. Craving salt was a big one for me. Sugar not so much.
One of my support practitioners, an angel disguised as a chiropractor, and I have been slowly working through the soft tissue and organs related to the upper diaphragm area, the pancreas, gall bladder and in through the liver. With very good results, working through each both on the physical and the emotion levels, literally pushing through the stuck areas. I started to have a waist again. Wow.
Who knew there could be so much stuck, undigested food and along with it emotional left overs as well.
The new year arrived and with it a glorious full moon on the 6th. I started paying more attention to the moon cycles in 2021. At the End of 2022 I began receiving some intense downloads and with it more challenges to my physical system in the way of digestion. The small things that were bothering me at the physical, like loss of a waist line and weight gain, were suddenly heightened. The more the downloads came the more I realized somewhere in my consciousness that I really needed to assist my physical and emotional with the coming shifts in my energy body if I am to be of greater assistance in 2023 and beyond.
On Friday, January 6th I knew it was time to just do it and eliminate any more intake of food. In other words, fast. As a dowser I decided to dowse how many days would be beneficial for my body, mind, spirit to engage in this endeavor, for the first time. “Thank God” I said inwardly, four days was all that was needed to kickstart the reconnection between my brain and body, which at times felt more like an idea of deprivation. Well, I could do four days. If Ghandi could do 25 days or so in a hunger strike for a cause bigger than himself and the fate of a nation. Then I could certainly do 4 days to enhance and support my body.
I relied on water, tea and a cup of coffee the first 2 days. Admittedly, it wasn’t easy I was okay the first two days, day three is when the discomfort and restlessness kicked in. I had extremely restless sleep as the new energy was moving up and in at all hours. During the daytime my limbs felt like weights, I was tired and jazzed at the same time. The intensity of my sense of smell became a source of amusement. I could keenly smell the mascara I was about to use and thought “eew, if this is what this smells like why am I putting it on my lashes?” An ordinary meal of jai, a chinese vegetable dish my husband was enjoying for his evening meal became the sense of torture. I had to leave the room. How was I doing? By day four I was counting the hours to the meal I was imagining to break-fast. It became a night-long obsession.
The next morning after 4 hours of sleep I was greeted with a beautiful ripe papaya. It was the sweetest one I have ever eaten.
After having finished the four day fast I can say that my sense of taste and smell have been heightened and I’m not as eager to eat as much. In fact I’m continuing this week to break my fast with more liquids such as homemade soups and room temp smoothies. My intuition feels heightened as well. There is less separation between the me who was looking for guidance and the me who knows where to go and what to do already. I can hear my guidance more clearly.
I feel more prepared for the arrival of the super new moon in Aquarius coming January 21st, and as Astrologer Bracha Goldsmith put it so beautifully it’s “the releasing of old structures and the beginning of new futures.”
Having felt the benefits of this four day hiatus from food. I believe I will try to incorporate at least a three day fast once a month.
I was once visited by the great Mahatma Ghandi many years ago, while practicing my dowsing. He suggested a fast one day out of the week. He knew my health and connection to the Divine would improve with this fasting practice.
I wasn’t ready to accept myself as a Divine being back then. Or the advice from a very wise sage. What was I thinking?
Well, better late than never.
